WELLNESS AND HEALING THROUGH AAYUGAA

Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of holistic healing, offers a profound approach to mind wellness by recognizing the deep connection between the body, mind, and spirit. Rooted in the Sanskrit words “ayus” (life) and “veda” (knowledge or science), Ayurveda promotes balance as the foundation of health and well-being. It teaches that mental wellness cannot exist in isolation from physical health, diet, lifestyle, and spiritual practices. According to Ayurveda, the mind is influenced by three essential energies, or gunas: sattva, rajas, and tamas — which define its qualities and behaviors. Sattva represents clarity, harmony, and wisdom; rajas reflects activity, restlessness, and desire; tamas denotes inertia, confusion, and ignorance. For mental wellness, Ayurveda emphasizes cultivating sattva through a clean lifestyle, nutritious food, meditation, and meaningful relationships. A sattvic mental state is characterized by inner peace, clarity of thought, and emotional stability. Ayurveda also identifies three body-mind constitutions, or doshas, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Each dosha influences mental tendencies. Vata, made of air and ether, governs creativity and quick thinking but can lead to anxiety when imbalanced. Pitta, associated with fire and water, drives ambition and intellect but can result in anger or perfectionism under stress. Kapha, linked to earth and water, supports stability and compassion but may lead to lethargy or depression if excessive. Mind wellness, therefore, involves recognizing one's dominant dosha and restoring balance through tailored diet, routine, and therapies.
